Rue nudged closer into Jasper’s lap, his arms encircling her waist. He was gently rocking her as the principal continued his speech on proper behavior at school, a couple of teachers threw them a look but they didn’t care. She turned up her face to whisper something into his ear, his eyes went wide and his eyebrows danced a funny jig. When she was finished she looked up at him, peeking through her eyelashes, her big brown eyes fixed upon his. He couldn’t speak and her cheeks grew pinker the longer he sat there silent. We didn’t know what to think as Rue put her hand on her tummy and Jasper placed his large ones on top. The girls gossip into each other ears at the whole situation; their whispers grew louder when Jasper kissed her forehead and audibly said ‘It will be alright.’ The assembly ended and everyone got up and cleared the large gym, Jasper held her hand as the walked through the halls. They broke off as Rue came towards us and Jasper went to talk to the boys. “Guys, I have something to tell you.” Her face was very red and she was fidgeting restlessly. “This diet is killing me, I need some fries covered in gravy.” slapping her knee and laughing liked mad. We stood there dumbfounded.
